A 34-year-old Sedro-Woolley man was arrested Tuesday morning for investigation of murder after a 52-year-old man was discovered dead with wounds caused by a chainsaw to his head in his own home.
Louis J. Auriema, Jr. was found about 6 p.m. Monday at his home in the 4800 block of Blank Road about seven miles north of Sedro-Woolley.
A neighbor called 911 after hearing the commotion of a visitor discovering Auriema’s body, Undersheriff Tom Molitor said.
Auriema suffered cuts to his head by an operating chainsaw, Molitor said.
The suspect, Justin Morgan Daly, was a tenant on the Blank Road property. He lived in an exterior travel trailer, but the apparent homicide occurred in Auriema’s house, Molitor said.
The assailant is believed to have acted alone during a dispute between him and Auriema, according to a statement released by Molitor on Tuesday morning.
The suspect was arrested about 10 a.m. at the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office after an interrogation.
Detectives continue to piece together the details of the slaying. Coroner Daniel Dempsey said an autopsy is scheduled for this morning.
