MOUNT VERNON — Wins have been a rarity for the Mount Vernon girls’ soccer team in the talent-laden Western Conference 4A.
But the Bulldogs got a big one on Tuesday, beating Mariner 10-1 on the strength of four Grace Lemley goals.
Bulldogs coach Gary Warman said he was pleased with the win even if the Mauraders have been down on their luck this year.
“In this league, you never know when you are going to get the next one,” Warman said. “We will celebrate this and hopefully get some momentum going in to this next week.”
Mount Vernon’s Katie McBee had two goals and Caytlyn McAdam, Annie Strom, Erika Oster and Kylie Terwilliger each scored one goal.
The Bulldogs are 2-6-1 in conference and 3-7-1 overall.

SEATTLE — Ashlyn Reinstra had a goal and two assists as the Braves got a big win over the defending state champs.
Kelsie Crawford also scored for the Braves, who improved to 8-4, as did Sammie Mesman in her first game back after a knee injury.
Kirstyn Bell provided another assist for La Conner.

EVERSON — Edie Breckenridge and Dallas Nelson each scored a pair of goals as the Tigers improved to 8-1 in the Northwest Conference and 11-2 overall.
Carly Tolf, Gabi Sanchez and Mariah Swanson scored for Burlington-Edison.
Nooksack Valley also notched an own goal.
Allison Perry and Allee Richlin were in goal for the Tigers.

DEMING — Bridgette Janicki and Natalie Robinson scored for the Cubs, but Sedro-Woolley fell in the Northwest Conference matchup.

ORCAS ISLAND — Natalie Sakuma scored the lone goal for Mount Vernon Christian, which fell to 1-3 in the Northwest 1A/2B/1B League and 3-8 overall.
“It was not a great game,” Hurricanes coach Randy Vis said. “We know what we are supposed to do but we just didn’t do it. I feel like it shouldn’t be 1-8, but it was.”
The Hurricanes host La Conner at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

FRIDAY HARBOR — The Wolverines blanked the Lions in a Northwest 1A/2B/1B League game.
“We had some opportunities, but couldn’t finish,” Concrete coach Adam Woodworth said.

ANACORTES — The Red Raiders were able to put four in the net against the Seahawks in the Northwest Conference soccer match.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-6-2 in conference play and 2-8-2 overall.

LYNNWOOD — The Hurricanes recorded their fourth straight shutout, beating Providence in a 4-3 shootout in the Northwest 1A/2B/1B League match.
The win improved the Hurricanes to 9-1 in league and 11-1 overall.
“We never gave up control of the midfield and we had enough offensive pressure,” Hurricanes coach Robert Adeline said.

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The Braves trailed 2-0 at halftime to the Lions and saw that deficit double by the end of Northwest 1A/2B/1B League soccer game.
“We’ve got some seniors who are really playing with a sense of urgency,” said La Conner coach Steve DeLeon. “But we are missing some players in the middle that really hurt us.”
DeLeon was impressed with Dylan Sicklesteel, Tanner Cyr and Jake Silva.
“Those guys played their socks off,” DeLeon said.
The Braves are 2-8-1 overall.
