Movie star chats with locals

While the movie crew pushed away the local newspaper reporter during filming of “The Details” Tuesday on the Dalles Bridge near Concrete, several residents told the Skagit Valley Herald Tobey Maguire took the time to talk to and take pictures with fans in Concrete after he finished his day of filming.

Many of the fans were children, excited to see Spider-Man in their town.

One reader reported that this isn’t the first time Maguire has been in the tiny North Cascades town filming a movie.

“I remember him very vividly from when they filmed 'This Boy's Life' back in the early 90s,” Torry Brouillard-Bruce wrote in an e-mail to the Herald. “I was a young teen at that time and that movie coming to town was about as big of a deal anyone could’ve ever imagined. What are the chances that little Spidey ever thought he’d be back in Concrete, Washington filming a movie again. It’s the magnetism of that beautiful place.”

Maybe next time he’ll talk to the local newspaper reporter too.
