Volunteer Planting Party
Come join the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group in planting trees along local streams and rivers! We need your help improving salmon streams to preserve this important Northwest resource. These plants will prevent bank erosion, filter toxins to improve water quality, provide shade and protection for salmon, and create woody habitat for the aquatic insects salmon feed on.
We will be planting on the South Fork Skagit River, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy: Heading S on I-5 take the Anderson Road exit and turn right at the stop sign; turn Left onto Old Hwy 99 S for 1 mile; turn slight right on Conway Road for 0.9 miles; turn right on West Stackpole Road for 1 mile; turn right on Dike Road. The site is near the intersection of W. Stackpole and Dike, but follow signs for parking. Dress for the weather and bring boots and gloves (or borrow ours). Snacks provided. Please arrive at 10am for safety orientation. Saturday, November 07, 2009
