Central Elementary to Sell

Sedro&#8212;Woolley, September, 2008—Central Elementary School is selling the popular Entertainment® book to raise funds for Central classroom technology, fieldtrips, and fun events. The fundraising campaign will continue through October 24, 2008.

				      <description>Are you interested in meeting new friends, learning from local experts about the wonders of the Skagit River watershed, and participating in meaningful community projects&#63;  

The Skagit Conservation District is now accepting applications for the Fall 2008 Watershed Masters Volunteer Training Program.  The Watershed Masters Program is a 40&#8212;hour training program intended for community residents, age 17 and up, who are aspiring to increase their knowledge about local watersheds, water quality, and beach and stream ecology.  

Participants attend 8 evening sessions, held weekly beginning Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and continuing every Wednesday evening through November 12th.  Participants will also attend 3 Saturday field excursions, scheduled for Sept. 27th, Oct. 11th, and Oct. 25th.  

In return for 40 hours of FREE training, participants provide 40 hours of volunteer service by participating in local water quality related projects of their choice.  

The Fall 2008 training was made possible through a Washington Dept. of Ecology Stormwater Education Grant received by the Skagit Conservation District in partnership with the Cities of Mount Vernon, Burlington, and Sedro&#8212;Woolley and Skagit County.   

Evening sessions will be held at the Padilla Bay Research Reserve, located at 10441 Bayview Edison Road.
