Big Lake Elementary first-grade teacher Julie Erickson was recently presented with an award from The Landing in Sedro-Woolley for her recent artistic donation. Erickson created a colorful 12-foot dragon made from plastic lids for children and volunteers to enjoy at The Landing, United General Hospital’s volunteer-run program that offers grief and loss support for children, teens and their families.

“In addition to being an extremely talented and nurturing classroom teacher, Ms. Erickson is an exceptional artist,” said Jennifer Allen, Big Lake Elementary principal, in acknowledging Erickson’s contribution. “We have had several families who have utilized this supportive environment [at The Landing] to help with the grief and healing process after losing a loved one.”
