Yet the very portals to knowledge are threatened as the economic crisis forces our colleges and universities to take action that will limit opportunity for many prospective students.

How can this country possibly put money into education when we are so busy bailing out the greedy bankers and AIG to the tune of 1.4 trillion dollars?

One thing we could do is take another look at immigration policy regarding student visas. Since 2001 it has become much more difficult for students coming from abroad to study here. Their numbers at US colleges and universities have fallen precipitously in recent years. Typically they pay full tution.
