BURLINGTON — A 34-year-old Sedro Woolley man died early this morning after he was shot in the head while driving through Burlington after midnight.

The victim died at the hospital several hours after the incident, which occurred at 12:18 a.m. on the 700 block of south Alder Street. The shooter remains at large, according to Burlington police.

Investigators are looking into a possible relationship between the victim and the shooter.  They do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence, according to a press release.

Probably...and Machismo related.  He got shot because he was give another Mexican “dirty looks.” His life got taken because he looked at somebody wrong.

Did they catch the shooters?

One or two of them were caught and one is still on the run.

Hispanic gangs aren’t the only kind of gangs out there, Manerva.  There are plenty of Asian gangs and white gangs and mixed-race gangs as well.  Don’t be so quick to jump to the conclusion that it was a “Mexican”. 

And think about this: if someone is born here and speaks English fluently, has not even a hint of a foreign accent, are they still “Mexican” or “Vietnamese” or “Korean” or “Italian” (etc.) or are they “American”?

You seem to be overlooking the fact that the shooter WAS a Mexican.

Was that reported in the story?  Are you certiain the victim was “Mexican”?  Or were all involved Americans with Mexican parentage?  Or Mexican grandparentage?  Do their last names appear “Mexican” and that’s where you are getting your impression they are all “Mexicans”?  Were they born in Mexico or in the US?  Were they born in Guatemala?  Or Puerto Rico?  How about Panama?  Maybe Costa Rica?  Have you even seen their birth certificates?  Or are you just guessing?

Is your last name Smith or Jones?  Or does it look like it could be a German or Italian or Asian or French or English or Irish?  Exactly what is an “American” name?

Walter Chacon-Villanueva was shot by Armando Duniga Menchaca Jr. of Burlington and 31-year old David Alejandro Ugalde of Sedro-Woolley.  The police are still looking for Luis Alberto Ugalde.

Now, at the risk of sounding like I’m ”perpetuating rumor, misinformation and prejudice based on ignorance,” I’m pretty damn sure these boys aren’t members of any ”Asian or white gangs.”
