When times get tough, people make up words. The 1970s popularized “stagflation.” The turn of the millennium brought the “dot-com” boom, then bust.

And now there’s the summer “staycation.”

Here’s the thing that nobody’s saying about our gas prices:  wa are way overtaxed!  Washington state sales tax on a gallon of gas is 37.5 cents per gallon and federal tax is 18.4 cents per gallon. That is way more than a fuel company makes on a gallon of gas and for what!?  For endless environmental studies and 20% “art” funding incorporated into every project?  At a time when we’re all feeling the crunch, it really adds insult to injury to know that we’re paying one of the highest gas taxes in the country!

Oops, my first sentence should end with “WE are way overtaxed!”
