Hi Lee,

We don’t use any pop-up type of advertising at all on goskagit.  Perhaps it’s because you’re clicking on some of the stories listed within the AP (Associated Press) area?  If so, you may very well get a pop-up ad but that is because you are being directed to the AP website and we don’t have any control on how they advertise.

Thanks,
Don Danielson

I get pop up ads all the time on goskagit.com regardless of what I click on. I have a pop up blocker installed on my computer and go skagit is the only site it doesn’t work on . Same problem with my roommates computer and my computer at work as well. We don’t use the same pop up blocker either.

If you’re getting them while reading a story from the AP it’s because when you click on one of their stories we shuttle you off to their website (note the URL next time) and we obviously have no control over what they do.  Outside of that, I can assure you there is absolutely zero pop-up advertising coded into the goskagit website.  If you could email me a description, or better yet, a screenshot or two of these pop-ups, I’d love to see them.

My email is .

When I Google “Anacortes American” the link takes me to this website (makes sense because you publish it also) but where are the American stories? Are there or will there be discussion venues for American readers?

On another topic, are the troubles that the Detroit paper faces (cutting home delivery, etc.) isolated or likely to affect all newspapers?

Thanks.

Looks like it.  Seattle Times is reduced to 3 sections, no more arts writer, daily TV listings dropped, etc.  I suppose it’s just a matter of time before it or the P-I go under.  They’re all subject to Craigslist’s free advertising.
