Little League officials have told four Whidbey Island teams to stay home from a postseason all-star tournament after a recommendation from the Island County Health Department based on an outbreak of whooping cough on the island.
Teams scheduled to play against South Whidbey’s teams will move on to play other teams in the tournament. The four teams pulled from the competition included teams of kids ages nine to 12.
The decision follows an outbreak of 25 cases of whooping cough confined mainly to the southern end of Whidbey Island.
