I’ve been watching this forum since yesterday and I have to tell you it’s a joke.  99% of the things being posted on here are not correct.  I can only hope that people aren’t forming their opinions on this topic from the posts here.  The post about Jacobs doing this for his campaign was the last straw for me.  Jacobs lost in the primary election, his campaign is over.  Who are you people, and what is wrong with you.  You have no clue.  And it cracks me up when you people on here try to sound so intelligent when in reality you don’t have clue, you’re just spreading rumors.  The paper needs to have some regulation to these forums.  There are no conspiracies as some people have stated, no city officials are personally lining their pockets here.  The Deluxe opposition group and the city administration are both good groups of people.  I know people on both sides.  They both believe that they have the cities best interests in their minds.  Things have just really gotten out of control.  My heart hurts for the community right now and I hope we can all come away from this ok.  But please if you don’t know what your talking about don’t spread rumors.  Even if you think you know what your talking about you probably don’t.  The only people that do are the people directly involved in the court case.

t my intent to get into a debate here.  I’m not going to offer up any facts, because they would just be attacked.  Somebody would claim that I was Eron Berg, or Will Honea, etc.  People are attacking me and don’t even know which side of the argument I support if any.  This proves my point these forums just add to the problems we face.  All I was trying to say by my post is that most of the stuff being said in this forum is untrue, and that the people involved are good people with the communities best interests in mind.  And how do I know this?  It’s my opinion based on what I know to be fact, not heresay, and I guess you’ll just have to trust me.  Or not, either way I don’t care.  I try to only speak about things that I know to be true.  I guess I’m too out of touch.  I don’t lie. 

And to the Al Pacino commenter, I wasn’t attacking “the system” just the way the Herald has set up these forums.  I know this is a bit hypocritical because I don’t do it, but you should have to state who you are if your going to smear people on here.  And I’m sorry my screen name was’t suppose to imply that I was a narcicist.

But maybe taking the coward’s way out is more comfortable for you.

If what you have to offer is factual and would be for the better of this forum and the community at large, why would you care who people think you are or represent?  Because you’re using an anonymous handle, there’s no real risk in what people think of you, is there?  if you’ve got facts to share and rumors to squash, why not just come out with it?

Sorry, but that’s not how it works.  You’re the claimant, so the onus of proof is on you.  You storm in here, acting appalled at the rumors and non-factual statements that you proclaim abound in this forum, yet you are unwilling to go out on a limb and produce some facts that you say need to be seen.  Yet, when challenged to produce the facts you feel are being overlooked, you balk at doing so.

And you think anyone is going to trust you?  What planet are you from?

Yes, you *are* being hypocritical.  Realistically, however, if everyone had to use their real names in here, very few would post - and I imagine that’s why the Herald set up the forums the way they did, because they want people to use it.  But maybe that’s what you would prefer - no one posting, stifling the First Amendment while not appearing to stifle the First Amendment.  Very snarky.

Up the River....I guess that’s my question....would Eron Berg benefit financially from this deal going through (that’s why he “alledgedly” took the letter out?) Or is it because of bad writing skills?  (Good one Lee!)

I don’t think that anyone with a lick of sense would disagree that rumors fly frequently in here, Lee.  The point I was making to “The Person We Need” (if that’s what you are taking umbrage with) is that if one has proof that the “99%” of the things said in here are rumors rather than fact, come forth with the facts.

Would you kindly enlighten me on how you arrived at a figure of 99%?  I know you said you have been watching since yesterday, but have you actually read any of it?  I see plenty of factual comments going on here with links to documentation to back it up.  You on the other hand are only making claims…

The fact that has to be backed up with evidence is that the letter Leo Jacobs claims was in a file and returned to him by Mr. Berg was—

1. in the Deluxe file in the first place, and
2. was returned to Jabobs by Berg AFTER Mr. Berg took it out of the Deluxe file.

No such evidence has been presented.  A lot of folks personal opinions and rumors ginned up by those personal opinions have filled this thread.

Uggghhh.  I am saddened to see what this forum has turned into this morning.  Maybe it’s the weather…

Anyway, with that said, this is a Discussion Forum.  Everyone is entitled to state their opinions on here, their beliefs, and their debates.  Even tho we don’t agree with everything everyone else says, there have been some very good points brought to light.

I just don’t think all of the personal attacks are helping the discussion.

Manerva, I do hope someone is digging into the situation to see if that may be the case.

Since by definition facts are indisputable, how is it then possible to attack them? Fact - either black or white. Interpretation of fact - gray.

Lee, It’s not rumor mongering as much as good old fashioned sarcasm.

Nothing has been proven to be factual or verified.  Someone making a claim doesn’t prove something.  Right now it’s 2 politician’s words against each other.

I was and still am a strong supporter of Leo Jacobs.  My wife gave his campaign money.  But, having read his original comments, I can see why Eron Berg rejected them.  Instead of citing the applicable City codes or the WAC or the RCW’s, Leo cast his comments as demands from him personally.  That is a no-no for a municipal employee.  He did not make it clear at the beginning that these were just his personal comments as a private citizen. Secondly if he was part of the Public Works Department, his comments should have been forwarded via his department head.  Third, a prudent and loyal staff member would have readily redrafted and resubmitted the comments to make them look like a professional comparison of the proposed project vs. existing codes.

The unspoken theme in this matter is the ill will from County Deputy Prosecutor Will Honea toward Administrator Eron Berg.  I deeply respect Mr. Honea, but he is too much of a fighter and sometimes goes overboard to win a battle.  In the end the Judge from Snohomish County will resolve this case, and he will consider Leo Jacob’s comments, whether appropriate or not.  I hope the people of Sedro-Woolley can keep their cool and keep both Leo and Eron on the team.
