After the recent wet weather, Skagit County is lifting the ban on recreational burning effective 8 a.m. Thursday, and the ban on debris burning at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Recreational fires are cooking fires or campfires on private property. They must be less than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet high.
Debris burning to eliminate natural vegetation may resume on Tuesday. Debris fires must be less than 4 feet in diameter.
Larger open fires require a permit. Apply starting Sept. 2 by calling 360-428-3293.
If your property falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources, call 360-856-3500 for burn permit information.
A permanent ban on open burning remains in effect in Anacortes, Burlington, Concrete, Hamilton, La Conner, Lyman, Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley and their urban growth areas.
