NOOKSACK (AP) — About 20 owners of property near a proposed chicken hatchery in Nooksack are worried about the smell.
They’ve signed a petition against the proposal from Rock Creek Farms of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

A company co-owner, Ken Huttema, says hatching fertilized eggs is the cleanest part of the process. He says an air filtration system will contain occasional odors that he compared to “a bad case of the beans.”

The Nooksack city council will have to approve a conditional use permit for the hatchery.
