DEMING — The Burlington-Edison boys’ cross-country team, the two-time defending state champions, got the regular season off to a winning start on Wednesday, placing five runners in the top 10 and winning a four-team meet at Mount Baker.

Tyler Williams claimed his first high school overall win, leading a pack of Tigers to the victory. Williams finished the course in 16 minutes, 26 seconds, followed by teammates Connor Whan (second, 16:35), Alan DenAdel (fifth, 17:34), Nathan Power (sixth, 17:39) and Darion Cherberg (10th, 18:10).
