The Oyster Run is this Sunday and the roads in Skagit County will be packed with motorcycles. I have attended for four years in a row and I am certain there are others out there who have been attending for a lot longer than that.

How about sharing your tips for getting the most out of the event? Here are a few of mine:

1. Don’t drink alcohol. Duh.
2. Get there early. The year that I rolled into Anacortes at 8:30 am was my favorite. No traffic = low stress and plenty of parking.
3. Leave early. Get outta town by 3 pm or be stuck in the mass exodus.
4. Obey the rules. Just because bikes are likely to outnumber cars in the area this weekend, don’t think that you are king of the road. I see lots of lane splitting, passing on the right and other sketchy behavior. Ride safely.

How about you? What’s your favorite Oyster Run tip?

Well since Shep was a pup the rule is...don’t hug the center line and don’t bunch up.  There are a lot of inexperenced riders out there and leave yourself some room to react.

Remember those oysters needed clean waters and we work hard to keep them that way here.  Have fun and stay safe!

Yes, remember Pete doesn’t want you to have fun or anything or even P in the water.

Be careful he doesn’t sell your farm out from under your family with rules and regulations.
