MOUNT VERNON — Members of both major parties gathered at opposite ends of town Thursday to watch the highly anticipated vice-presidential debate between Democratic Sen. Joe Biden and Republican Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

When it was over, both sides made predictable assessments of how their candidates performed. But neither side could claim a knockout.

What did you think of the debate?

I think the fact the Republicans had their fundraiser at a funeral home speaks volumes about the state of their party and their chances in November.

I think the lack of comments here also speaks volumes about how blase’ we are about either party right now. Palin was well coached, obviously, but did still fall back into the “gosh-golly” persona that make us wince as we watch our financial markets crumble. Her ‘answers’ to the moderator rarely qualified as an answer to the actual question, but a short speech on the topic that was well rehearsed beforehand. You’ll have chances to view the debate again, I’m sure. Listen for actual answers that don’t involve the word Maverick. There were few.
We need strength and vitality, not an “aw shucks, I’m just good folk” attitude. Remember as you cast your vote, the sure sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Time for a new regime, like it or not.

So, by this logic we must also turn over the house and senate to a new regime.  Sounds good.  I’ll make that trade.

Typical post from someone from LaConner who goes by Lacanner.  Jeez, give me a break.

Why not?  We’ve had the worst and dumbest president in the history of America sort-of running it for the last 7.5 years.  Couldn’t be any worse than Dub-ya…
