Skagit County Administrator Gary Rowe submitted his resignation today, effective Nov. 1. He said he will take the position of managing director of the Washington State Association of County Engineers.

Deputy Administrator Tim Holloran will be promoted to fill Rowe’s position, according to a statement issued by the Skagit County commissioners today.

Prior to serving as Administrator for Skagit County, Rowe served as Deputy County Administrator and Central Services Director for Jefferson County. He is a past president of both the Washington State Association of County Engineers and the National Association of County Engineers.

“Gary has done a fantastic job for us as our administrator,” said Commissioner Don Munks. “His solid background in local, state and federal government has been invaluable to Skagit County as well as his expertise in transportation and natural resource issues. He will be sorely missed.”

Rowe and his wife Cynthia plan to continue to live in La Conner.

“I plan to remain active locally as time will allow,” Rowe said.
