Barb Cicotte’s volleyball team shut out Sedro-Woolley 3-0 for their first win this season on Sept. 25.

Two evenings later, they dropped a 3-0 match to the Ferndale Golden Eagles to fall to 1-5 in conference and 1-6 overall. Both matches were played at Williams Gym.

The Seahawks travel to play at Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 2 before entertaining the Sehome Mariners on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Anacortes 3, Sedro-Woolley 0

The ’Hawks broke into the win column by dominating the Sedro-Woolley Cubs in three games, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14.

“We played a consistent match and controlled the tempo well,” Cicotte said.

“Tyler Calles had a good offensive night with nine kills and Hannah Holtgeerts added six kills. Megan Dunton had 22 assists and did a good job of mixing up the offense.”

Ferndale 3, Anacortes 0

The Golden Eagles fought through two close 25-19 games before asserting themselves in the final one, 25-14, for an NWC win at Anacortes.

“We didn’t play well. Ferndale was a scrappy team and did a good job of keeping the ball in play. I think that frustrated our team,” said Cicotte. “We had a hard time getting our offense going and as a result spent a lot of time on defense.”
