Get fresh produce, baked goods and homemade crafts at the Anacortes Farmers Market, which opens for the season on Saturday, May 17.
Market Manager Keri Knapp suggested pulling up a chair at the cafe and enjoying a treat.
“We’re going to have some new food vendors this year,” she said.
New food offerings include a teriyaki booth, hot dogs and kettle corn.
The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through early October at the Depot Arts Center on the corner of Seventh Street and R Avenue.
As usual, market-goers can expect their favorite organic fruits and vegetables, homemade baked goods, fresh fish, jam, honey, coffee, tea and fudge. Plants and fresh and dried flowers are also offered. Craft items include ceramics, photography, kitchen accessories, jewelry, garden art, knit-wear, felted slippers, soaps and lotions and hand-spun yarns and clothing.
The market ended last season with 85 different vendors. Knapp said an average of 45 vendors came per market.
Chef demonstrations are planned weekly and the Little People’s Tent, which will feature activities like face painting and seed planting, will continue.
Knapp said they would also like to have more music at the market and add an education booth.
“We want to start an education booth where customers can come learn about anything from composting to growing their own garden and sustainable agriculture,” she said.
Anyone interested in either area can call Knapp at 293-7922.
