Award-winning guitarist Tim ‘Too Slim’ Langford and his band the Taildraggers perform Thursday, June 12 at the Rockfish Grill.

Tim “Too Slim” Langford and his band the Taildraggers bring an eclectic blend of roots rock, Americana and blues to the Rockfish Grill starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Cover is $8.

A Too Slim concert promises a journey through American music history, with down home blues, funky blues rock, Americana and Southern swamp rock. The band has been voted the best regional act 10 times by the Cascade Blues Association, and Tim Langford has won multiple individual “bests” including top guitarist, slide guitarist and songwriter.

Too Slim has shared the stage with Bo Diddley, Brian Setzer, Johnny Lang, Robert Cray, Otis Rush, Jeff Healey, Ted Nugent, Los Lobos, Blue Oyster Cult, Heart, Travis Tritt, Junior Brown, Delbert McClinton, Blues Traveler, Steppenwolf and Johnny and Edgar Winter.

A hard act to follow? Not if you’re another Northwest legend. Alice Stuart, who has played with everyone from Taj Mahal to Frank Zappa, performs with her band the Formerlys at 9 p.m. Saturday, June 14, also at the Rockfish.

Since starting her career in the early 1960s Stuart has assembled a powerful catalog of folk, roots and blues. She blazed the trail for women in rock as one of the first in the country to write her own music, front a male band and play lead guitar on national and international circuits during the 1970s.

Blues Hall of Fame inductee Dick Waterman once said “There would be no Bonnie Raitt without Alice Stuart,” and Taj Mahal said “Alice cut the road that Bonnie traveled.” Stuart is a Rockfish favorite, so arrive early for a seat.
