A 13-year-old boy was booked into juvenile detention for investigation of felony assault after allegedly head-butting an officer.

Officers received a call about an out of control boy around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. Upon arrival at a house, officers learned the boy armed himself with a knife and threatened to kill his mother, aunt and others before fleeing the home carrying the knife.

The boy’s older brother found the boy and brought him back to the house, but the boy tried to flee when he saw police. An officer grabbed the boy and attempted to handcuff him for safety reasons, but he then allegedly intentionally head-butted the officer in the jaw.

After the boy was arrested he reportedly admitted grabbing a knife and threatening to kill his aunt, and said he head-butted the officer because he did not want to be handcuffed.

The boy’s initial anger stemmed from his mother telling him to stop throwing pennies at family members in the house.

Police contacted a 26-year-old Anacortes man inside the establishment. He walked outside after initially arguing with officers, then reportedly stood near the front door yelling obscenities while refusing to leave the area. After he continued to yell profanities and make veiled threats toward the staff, he was arrested, according to police.

When he was placed under arrest, the man allegedly struggled with officers and resisted their efforts to search him and put him into a patrol car. A small amount of marijuana was reportedly found in the man’s clothing. He was booked into jail on charges of disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana.

Saturday, Dec. 6

• A 32-year-old Anacortes man with numerous outstanding warrants was arrested at a house in the 400 block of 36th Street. The man claimed a 42-year-old woman, who also had a felony warrant, was not at the house, but she was found hiding in a makeshift closet. Both were booked into jail.

Her car was searched as it exited the international ferry and officers found two containers of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside. The woman allegedly admitted the marijuana belonged to her and said she needed it to cope with visiting a family residence in the islands.

• A 41-year-old Anacortes man was arrested on a variety of charges after witnesses reported a Lexus struck a log in the 200 block of T Avenue, which caused the log to partially block a restaurant’s parking lot. The vehicle was reportedly smoking badly and the driver got out and walked into the restaurant.

Officers contacted a man matching the driver’s description inside the bar. He denied driving the car and was arrested on five outstanding warrants. The keys for the damaged car reportedly were found on the man during a search along with a bag of marijuana. Two of the man’s drinking buddies said they didn’t see him driving, but said he arrived at the bar the same time the accident was reported. The mother had visible redness to her neck. Contact with the daughter is pending.

The sister tried to leave in a vehicle with the man, but one brother attempted to remove his sister from the car.
