Thieves stole electronics worth $4,000 from the Alton R. Daniels Field at Volunteer Park including two CD changers, three amplifiers, the scoreboard controllers and the public address system. The theft was reported around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28.

There was no forced entry into the announcer’s booth nor was anything else missing from the complex.

Police recovered physical evidence from the scene which has been sent to the state crime lab. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Anacortes Police Department or Anacortes Parks Department. 

Among the other 180 cases handled by Anacortes police during the previous week:

Saturday, Dec. 27

• A 20-year-old man was hospitalized after a fight at a suspected underage drinking party in the 1100 block of 34th Street. Police and aid crews responded to a report of an unconscious man around 12:45 a.m. and found the victim. According to officers, the guests were mostly minors and signs of underage drinking were present. An assault investigation continues. Charges against underage drinkers are pending.

• A resident in the 2300 block of 15th Street reported his 16-year-old daughter ran away and took her mother’s iPhone Dec. 26. The girl later returned home without the phone.

Sunday, Dec. 28

• A woman visiting from California reported her wallet was either stolen or lost in Anacortes the previous night. She told officers she put her black and red wallet in her coat pocket while attending a movie. In the morning she could not find the wallet. She canceled her credit cards but the wallet contained cash and gift cards.

Monday, Dec. 29

• An unknown man kicked in the door of an apartment in the 1100 block of 24th Street around 12:30 a.m. and demanded drugs and money from the occupants. When told there were no drugs in the residence he took a piggy bank from a bedroom and fled. A neighbor saw the man flee. Some physical evidence was recovered at the scene and the investigation continues.

Tuesday, Dec. 30

• Two Anacortes men ages 23 and 22 were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct after police responded to a call of a fight in the 1200 block of 41st Street around 11:30 p.m. and found the two men wrestling in the roadway. When separated and questioned, they said they began arguing in a friend’s car. The argument escalated and their friend kicked them out of the car at 41st Street. One of the men faces a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

• Washington State Patrol, Swinomish Tribal Police and Anacortes Police all responded to a four-car collision on Highway 20 just west of Reservation Road around 5:30 p.m. A 49-year-old Mount Vernon man who reportedly caused the rear-end collision was arrested by the State Patrol on charges of DUI. No one was seriously injured.

Wednesday, Dec. 31

• A 31-year-old Anacortes man was arrested on a charge of malicious mischief after he reportedly took a sledgehammer to his ex-girlfriend’s car. The woman said they argued over the phone earlier in the day and he showed up in the afternoon and smashed her vehicle while calling her names.

• A woman in the 1000 block of 20th Street reported the theft of 12 duck decoys, 24 goose decoys, a tent, a child’s snowboard and a dead snow goose. Her husband returned from a hunting trip and left the items in the front yard. She returned after being gone a couple hours and assumed he put them away, but later realized someone took them. Total value is about $1,000.

• No one was injured in a two-car collision westbound on Highway 20 at Christianson Road just after 6 p.m. A 21-year-old Anacortes man was cited for following too closely after his 1990 Chevrolet truck collided with the vehicle in front of him.

Thursday, Jan. 1

• Police were called to the 1300 block of 16th street for a loud juvenile party around 12:30 a.m. Numerous juveniles and young adults were reportedly seen drinking in the area and yard. As officers approached the house, some of the revelers retreated inside, shut the doors and turned off lights and music. Numerous containers of alcohol were in the yard. One juvenile was arrested outside on charges of possession of alcohol and marijuana.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. Several persons aged 18, 19 and 20 were cited for drinking. The 21-year-old hosts were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors.

Friday, Jan. 2

• A 1991 Eagle Talon reported stolen on Orcas Island Dec. 24 was recovered in a parking lot at the Washington State Ferries terminal. A parking attendant told officers the vehicle was driven by a “Goth looking” teenage couple. The vehicle was processed for evidence then turned over to the owner.
