A 67-year-old Anacortes man was trespassed from a store in the 900 block of 11th Street after he allegedly harassed numerous female employees over the course of a few days.

The man’s behavior included grabbing one employee and kissing her, putting his face within inches of another employee and asking if she was going to kiss him, and staring at other employees from an extremely close distance.

The man was taken into custody on two outstanding warrants on Thursday, Oct. 8. As court was in session, the man was taken to the municipal court where he was arraigned and released.

Among the other 197 cases handled by Anacortes police during the previous week:

Friday, Oct. 2

• A 50-year-old woman allegedly assaulted her 72-year-old mother at her home on Q Avenue. The mother reported they argued because her daughter was drinking and refused to leave the mother’s home. The mother said her daughter yelled and swore at her, then pushed her and forced her back into a coffee table, ignoring pleas to leave her alone. The daughter’s 12-year-old son reportedly pulled his mother away from his grandmother. The daughter was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of domestic assault.

Saturday, Oct. 3

• A 43-year-old Sedro-Woolley woman suffered a bloody nose after the pickup she was driving rear ended a car driven by an Anacortes man. The woman did not realize the car stopped to make a left turn. The man was not injured but the woman hit her face on her steering wheel. She was cited for negligent driving.

• A 24-year-old woman was charged with assault after allegedly punching an 18-year-old woman at an apartment in the 1100 block of 27th Court. The older woman was upset because she claimed the younger woman was giving “romantic looks” to the older woman’s boyfriend. The older woman reportedly grabbed the younger woman by the chin and then swung and hit her in the forehead. The two women, the boyfriend and the younger woman’s husband had been drinking together.

When asked how much he had to drink, he said he was just coming from his parent’s house. The man appeared to have difficulty focusing on the officer’s questions.

The man performed poorly on field sobriety tests, although he told the officer he knew what he was doing as he had recently been arrested for DUI in Bellingham. A marijuana pipe was found inside his car. The man provided breath samples one and a half times the legal limit. He was cited and released to his mother.

• An officer stopped a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Anacortes man in the 2600 block of M Avenue for having defective tail and brake lights around 8:47 p.m. The driver smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and clumsy movements. He was cited on a charge of DUI and released to a sober friend.

• A 46-year-old Anacortes man was booked into jail on investigation of assault after he allegedly grabbed a nurse at the emergency room and fell on her. The man was intoxicated and was reportedly disruptive and ignored emergency room staff’s directions to put his clothes back on. • Officers contacted a 50-year-old transient after employees of a care center in the 900 block of 21st Street reported the man was suspiciously trying to open doors to storage units at the back of the facility. The man was extremely intoxicated and had a warrant for his arrest from a previous DUI. The door lock of an adjacent business also was pried and twisted, but it did not appear that thieves got in.

Later in the morning, two adjacent businesses in the 900 block of 11th Street were found burglarized, with locks torn off their doors. Various items in one business were rummaged through but only about $4 in change was missing from the cash register. The second business was missing $350 and a laptop computer.
