Police Tased and arrested a 67-year-old Anacortes man after he reportedly resisted arrest and struggled with officers at his home on 39th Street around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

An officer initially recognized the man while he was driving. He had two warrants for violating a court order and had been arrested on Oct. 8 on the same charge.

Since court was in session he was allowed to go before the court and avoid going to jail. However, he left the courtroom before his case was heard.

Officers later went to his home to arrest him. The man resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody and broke free of their grasp. It appeared he was about to assault one officer, who pulled out a Taser and told the man to put his hands behind his back.

Officers were concerned because the man has carried firearms in the past. He was moving toward the basement, where he previously kept weapons. The man was subdued with the Taser and taken into custody.
