MOUNT VERNON — A judge today reduced to $350,000 the $1 million bail for a man accused of luring his wife’s lover to Skagit County then killing him on Blanchard Mountain.
Skagit County Superior Court Judge John Meyer said that 35-year-old Ken McBride has strong ties to the area and is likely to appear for court if he is released. McBride also has no known criminal history.
He is charged with first-degree premeditated murder.
Usually, defendants are required to post 10 percent — in this case $35,000 — of the full bail amount to a bond company, along with collateral sufficient to cover the full amount of the bail, to be released from jail.
Ferndale track coach and substitute teacher, Jeremy Scully, disappeared last April, on a day he planned to help with repairs at the McBride home on Old Highway 99 in Alger, where Ken and his wife Venessa McBride lived at the time.
