BIG LAKE — At least three motors were stolen from boats in the Big Lake area Thursday afternoon, and more are possibly missing, according to Will Reichardt, chief criminal deputy with the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.

Reichardt said the thefts took place in the middle of the day. One boat owner was in his backyard when his motor was taken. All three boats were parked in driveways on Zoya Drive, Reichardt said.

Reichardt suggested that boat owners unhook their motors or store their boats in garages to prevent further thefts.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for several suspected vehicles, including a 1980s white or silver Subaru car, a white Chevrolet pickup, and an older white van.

Reichardt estimated each motor to be worth $3,000 or $4,000.
