WHATCOM COUNTY LINE

The state Department of Transportation is telling drivers to expect lane closures Monday through Wednesday on both directions of Interstate 5 near the Skagit-Whatcom county line.

The right lane of north- and southbound I-5 will be closed Monday starting at 8 p.m. until Tuesday at 6 a.m. so crews can grind down and then pave the roadway, according to DOT.

Additional lane closures are planned from Tuesday at 8 p.m. until Wednesday at 6 a.m. as crews complete the work, a news release stated.

MOUNT VERNON

Single-lane closures are planned on College Way this week between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., the state Department of Transportation advises.

“Crews will begin grinding down the old asphalt on College Way starting (tonight) and will work through Thursday night between Freeway Drive and Continental Place. Minor delays are expected,” a DOT news release stated.

“Crews will also rebuild wheelchair ramps on Memorial Highway near Avon-Allen Road this week, but all work will be off the roadway. Crews will begin repaving Memorial Highway in Mount Vernon starting in early July,” the news release stated.

DECEPTION PASS

Crews will close one lane of Highway 20 in the Quiet Cove area, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday to Thursday.

State transportation officials warn motorists to expect delays because flaggers will alternative between Lunz and Campbell Lake roads while crews continue to install water and stormwater pipes in the area.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY
Westbound Highway 20 will be closed daily 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday from east of West Moore Street to south of F&S Grade Road for roadwork.

Traffic will be guided through, one direction at a time, by flaggers and traffic control devices during the closures, according to Project Engineer Nick Vann.

“Traffic delays should be expected along this stretch of (Highway 2) and at the intersection of F&S Grade Road,” a news release from Vann stated. “Access to residences and local businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of this work.”
