Canadian arrested with drugs at ferry

ANACORTES — A 50-year-old Canadian woman was arrested Wednesday with 126 grams of marijuana while getting off a ferry in Anacortes that had come from Canada, authorities said.

She was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol and turned over to the Anacortes Police Department with four bags containing the marijuana, which she told officials was for “personal use.”

The woman, from Chemainus, B.C., also told authorities that she intended to sell a bag to a friend, She was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to Anacortes police.

The woman said she intended to spend two months visiting a relative in La Conner and used the marijuana without a prescription to take alleviate migraine pain, police said.
