Today is Election Day 2009, and voters who have not yet turned in their ballots can either mail them today or drop them in one of several ballot boxes around Skagit County.
The county Elections Office Web site reports that more than 66,000 ballots were mailed to voters, and about 20,000 had come back as of Monday.
Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed is predicting 51 percent voter turnout statewide.
Skagit County Elections Supervisor David Cunningham has predicted a 56 percent turnout here.
Any ballots mailed today must be sent early enough to get today’s postmark for it to be counted. Or find a ballot box at these locations:

-- Skagit Upriver Services and Library, 45770 A Main St., Concrete.
-- La Conner Regional Library, 614 E. Morris St.
-- Mount Vernon Police and Court Campus, 1805 Continental Place.
-- Skagit County Auditor’s Office, 700 S. Second St. Drop boxes are located outside the county building and inside the Auditor’s Office at room 201.
