Pomona College
Sedro-Woolley High School graduate Noel Abbott has earned a BA in English from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif. Noel’s parents are Dale Abbott and Chelle Moat, both of Sedro-Woolley. 

University of No. Colorado
Michael Dickneite of Mount Vernon has graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., with a MA in special education. 

Tufts University
Jesse Sax-Gossett has graduated cum laude from Tufts University in Medford, Mass., with a BS double major in history and environmental studies. Jesse, a graduate of Stanwood High School, is the son of Richard Gossett and Linda Sax of Lake McMurray. 

Grinnell College
Robert LaFollette, son of Jere LaFollette and Wendelin Sanderson of Mount Vernon, has graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa with a BA in Spanish and anthropology. LaFollette also earned the Rachel M. Arelsky Prize in anthropology.

Gonzaga University

Brittany Harmon-Watilo, daughter of Eric and Carol Watilo of Mount Vernon, has graduated from George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., with a BS in elementary education. Harmon-Watilo graduated summa cum laude, an honor requiring at least a 3.9 GPA.
Montana State University
Devan Backstrom of Camano Island has graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.

Cottey College
Caroline McLees, daughter of Arjay McLees of Camano Island, has graduated from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., with an associate of science degree. Caroline was also named to the spring semester president’s list for earning at least a 3.75 GPA.

Texas A&M University
Rebecca Sturdy, the daughter of Karen and Gary Sturdy of Anacortes, graduated in May from Texas A&M University with a BS in sports management.  The 2003 graduate of Anacortes High School will intern as athletic media relations assistant at the University of North Carolina Pembroke.

Stonehill College
Elizabeth Farrey of Stanwood has graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

REFINERY OPERATOR Tesoro is currently seeking to fill the position of Refinery Operator at its Anacortes facility. An Operator monitors and controls refinery process equipment while working a rotating 12-hour shift, often outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. This can be a physically/mentally challenging job requiring mechanical ability and a basic understanding of physical sciences and chemistry. In addition, candidates must possess a positive work ethic, good communications and teamworking skills and have the willingness to take personal responsibility for the safety of themselves and others. Starting wage will be $21.38 per hour that will initially increase to $25.59 after successful completion of training.
