Candidates for Skagit County commissioner will answer voters’ questions about agriculture at a forum tonight.
The event is sponsored by nine local agricultural groups, including the Western Washington Agricultural Association, Skagit County Cattlemen’s Association, Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland and the Skagit County Dairy Federation.
Candidates will field questions from the audience about local agricultural issues, including possibly the proliferation of rural subdivisions and alternative uses of farmland, including wetland mitigation banks.Audience members will be required to write their questions in advance.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will take place at the Washington State University Research and Extension Center, 16650 Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon.
