Art guild presents Spring Art Show awards
Ribbons were awarded in five categories by the Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild during its sixth annual Spring Art Show held June 7-8 at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center in Stanwood.
Melody Knoke of Camano Island won the People’s Choice award with her watercolor entry “A Piece of Spring.” Guild member Anne Daletski said Knoke paints en plein aire in both watercolor and watercolor with ink to create expressive and whimsical works.
Duane Simshauser of Camano Island won Best of Show with his entry “Blue Man Red Dog.” Simshauser is known for his contemporary acrylic collage and sculpture work.

Best of Show, People’s Choice and first-place category winners received $50 each in prize money.
Burlington names Berry Dairy parade winners
The Burlington Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the 71st annual Berry Dairy Days parade held June 21 in Burlington.
The overall winner was an entry created by John Rasmussen of La Conner called “The 4 Little Cowgirls,” which also won first place in the vehicle category. It was manned by driver Shelby Rasmussen, and riders Savanah Johnson, Amy Tapia and Kortnee Davidson, all students at Mary Purcell Elementary School in Sedro-Woolley.

Vehicle
Second place: Oscar and Nels Lagerlund Steam Tractor. Third place: Skagit Transit.
Equestrian
First place: B-E Road Runners. Second place: Skagit Rein Riders. Third place: Banner Bank.
Specialty
First place: Burlington Public Library. Second place: Burlington Cub Scout Pack 4080. Third place: Skagit Select Baseball.
Marching/Walking
First place: Burlington, Sedro-Woolley, Lakewood Marching Band. Second place: B-EHS Cheerleaders. Third place: Samish Island Marching Band.
Float
First place: El Gitano. Second place: Wild Women of Woolley. Third place: Skagit Squares.
The Berry Dairy Days celebration was sponsored by United General Hospital and the parade was underwritten by Costco Wholesale. Trophies and awards can be picked up at the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, 111 S. Cherry St. 360-757-0994.
