Firefighters extinguished a roof fire of an abandoned building northeast of Sedro-Woolley early Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight, firefighters responded to a report of an old barn burning on the Northern State Complex on Helmick Road, said Fire District No. 8 Chief Rusty Fey.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Fey said he suspects it was fireworks-related.

The fire took about two hours to extinguish.

Fey said the fire caused no value loss because the barn has been abandoned for years.
