BURLINGTON — City of Burlington and Fire District 6 officials are scheduled to continue negotiations Tuesday during a 9 a.m. meeting at Burlington City Hall.

At issue is whether the district and city will continue to work together to provide fire service in the city limits and district, which surrounds Burlington north of the Skagit River, or whether the two jurisdictions will no longer share equipment and emergency calls.

The contract that called for them to work cooperatively and directed reimbursement between the city and district expired March 31. Negotiations since and before that date have failed to produce a new agreement.

Commissioners for Fire District 6, city staff and the mayor are scheduled to attend Tuesday’s meeting, which is to be held in room 132. The meeting is open to the public.
