BURLINGTON — Commissioners for Fire District 6 are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss a deal with the city of Burlington.

The meeting will be held at Bayridge Station, 16220 Peterson Road.

The district and Burlington Fire Department parted ways in April — at least on paper — after providing joint fire service for years within city limits and in the district, which surrounds Burlington.

They have so far continued to field calls together, officials from the city and district said recently and Burlington officials have offered to keep that arrangement going if the district pays $159,000 a year to the city.

District 6 Commissioner Don Jonasson said Tuesday that the district would discuss the offer tonight.

“There needs to be a decision made,” he said. “It has drug out too long.”
