Foreclosure rates doubled in Skagit County

Skagit fares better than nation and state

The rising number of homeowners facing financial trouble has sparked a new trend among those people who can afford to buy.

They’re telling their real estate agents: Show me the short sales, foreclosures and bank-owned homes.

“There’s a perception of a good deal,” said Josh Scott, president-elect of the North Puget Sound Association of Realtors.

This is in part due to interest but mostly hard economic reality. In Skagit County, the rate of foreclosures and delinquent mortgages has doubled when comparing June 2008 and June of this year, according to First American CoreLogic.
