Anacortes Fourth of July Parade, 2008

Many offices and businesses will be closed Friday or Saturday for the Fourth of July holiday, and some services have been reduced or rescheduled. Here is a partial list:

Banks
Closed Saturday.

Governments
Most will be closed Friday. However, many Skagit County offices will be closed both Friday and Monday. District Court, Superior Court and the Skagit County Historical Museum will be open Monday.

Garbage collection
• Areas served by Waste Management will have normal pickup Friday and Saturday.
• Areas served by Island Disposal will have normal pickup Friday.
• Anacortes: Trash and recycling pickup the following Friday as a double load. Yard waste will have normal pickup Friday and Saturday.
• Mount Vernon: Pickup on Monday rather than Friday.
• Oak Harbor: Pickup today rather than Friday.
• Sedro-Woolley: Normal Friday pickup.
• The Skagit County recycling and garbage transfer station on Ovenell Road west of Burlington and at Clear Lake at Highway 9 and Howey Road will be closed Saturday. The Ovenell transfer station will be open Monday.

Transportation
• Skagit Transit buses and Dial-A-Ride will follow a Saturday schedule on Friday but won’t run Saturday. Call 360-757-4433 or log onto http://www.skat.org.
• Island Transit will follow a regular schedule Friday but won’t run Saturday. Call 800-240-8747 or log onto http://www.islandtransit.org.
• Washington State Ferries routes serving Port Townsend and Keystone will follow a regular schedule during the weekend. The Mukilteo-Clinton route will follow a holiday schedule Friday and a regular schedule Saturday.
State Ferries will provide free parking at the Anacortes terminal Friday through Monday to encourage walk-on customers. Routes serving Anacortes and San Juan County will follow a regular schedule Saturday. On Thursday and Monday, extra sailings will be added to the routes serving Anacortes, Friday Harbor and Lopez Island.

• Skagit County Ferry to Guemes Island will follow a normal schedule Friday and Saturday.

Schools
The main offices of public school districts and Skagit Valley College will be closed Friday.

Whidbey Island Naval Air Station
• Many services on base will be unavailable or have reduced hours Friday. The Maui Avenue gate will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for the Fourth of July Parade. Use the Torpedo Road gate.

Newspaper
• The Skagit Valley Herald offices will be closed Friday. Offices will reopen Monday.

REFINERY OPERATOR Tesoro is currently seeking to fill the position of Refinery Operator at its Anacortes facility. An Operator monitors and controls refinery process equipment while working a rotating 12-hour shift, often outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. This can be a physically/mentally challenging job requiring mechanical ability and a basic understanding of physical sciences and chemistry. In addition, candidates must possess a positive work ethic, good communications and teamworking skills and have the willingness to take personal responsibility for the safety of themselves and others. Along with a dynamic work environment, Tesoro offers an excellent compensation and benefits package. Starting wage will be $21.38 per hour that will initially increase to $25.59 after successful completion of training.
