Anacortes only representative at the state 2A boys golf tournament, Jordan Freeman, shot an 89 on the first day of the event, missing the cut for second-day play at Loomis Trail Golf and Country Club on May 20.

“Jordan missed putts in the first round, which led to some pressing to make up ground and that ended up backfiring on him,” said Anacortes boys golf coach Dick Freier. “He righted the ship after a while, but it was too little too late.”

Freeman wasn’t happy with his play, but found the entire experience gratifying.

“It was a good experience. My goal was to make it to state and I did that,” he said. “My tee shots let me down at state.

“This season was still great fun. And I really enjoyed playing four years with my friends Cy Fenton and Alex Lytton.”
