MOUNT VERNON — A Skagit County jury on Tuesday found a 35-year-old man guilty of felony assault with a deadly weapon and hit and run in connection with a road-rage incident in April 2008.
Willis “Chad” Moore, a logger who admittedly has anger issues, chased down an off-duty park ranger who he thought had cut him off, and then he rammed her car with his.
He faces up to 26 months in prison for the conviction.
Moore remains out of custody on $100,000 bail. He currently lives in Maple Falls. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 13.
Moore was convicted in 1996 of first-degree assault for hitting a man in the head with a baseball bat. A third felony assault case is pending against him in Whatcom County for allegedly punching his girlfriend, according to court documents.
The three cases are all considered strike offenses. If Moore is convicted of the third strike offense he could face life in prison.
