The State Patrol is investigating a confrontation that took place in the middle of Highway 9 Wednesday north of Sedro-Woolley, in which one man allegedly threatened another with a .357-caliber pistol.
The gun-toting suspect, a 54-year-old Sedro-Woolley man, was not arrested, but is being referred to the Skagit County Prosecutor for investigation of second-degree assault, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary.
Leary said the man was driving his black Ford F-150 on Highway 9 close to Kalloch road when he swerved into oncoming traffic in an attempt to confront another man.
The victim, a 22-year-old Sedro-Woolley, man drove his red Jeep into a ditch trying to elude the suspect, Leary said. The man left his car in the ditch and escaped the scene after being picked up by an acquaintance who was passing by, Leary said.
