“The Road to Memphis,” a five-hour benefit to send Northwest bluesmen Son Jack Jr. and Michael Wilde to the 2010 International Blues Challenge, starts at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Rockfish Grill. Cover is $10 at the door.
Featured performers at this five-hour blues extravaganza are the two blues challengers as well as Cee Cee James Band, the Colonel and Doubleshot, the Stacy Jones Band and Delta Hothouse.
With Delta Hothouse, Son Jack Jr. won best traditional blues honors this year from the Washington Blues Society, and he also won with Michael Wilde in the best solo/dues category. He was nominated in best writer, best songwriter, best acoustic guitar and best new band categories. He has played with legends such as David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Louisiana Red and John Cephas, and has appeared with about every major Pacific Northwest act.
