Art will be on display in every corner of downtown shops and galleries Friday and Saturday during the combined Anacortes Chamber of Commerce Summer Artwalk and the June First Friday Gallery Walk.

Both events run 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 6, and the chamber event continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the next day.

More than 20 galleries and downtown merchants between Second and 10th streets will show paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, glass, ceramics, fabric art and more.

Opening receptions for Scott Milo Gallery’s Washington Art Group show and the Depot Arts Center’s “Clay, Fire and Form” show take place during Friday’s event.

The Washington Art Group show includes paintings by artists from the greater King County area, including Pepper Peterson, Patty Forte-Linna, Dick Smith, Cheryl King, Cary Jurriaans, Judythe Sherwood and Ned Mueller. Milo also offers new jewelry, sculptures, glasswork and beautifully crafted wood tables.

Cascade Clay Artists’ popular annual “Clay, Fire and Form” exhibit includes work by 22 clay artists from four counties. Cascade Clay Artists are potters, hand builders and sculptors — part-time and full-time professionals — who come together to enhance their skills and raise appreciation of clay as an art form.

Their work is represented in national galleries, public and private commissions and has been published in trade publications and magazines. The show includes “Garden of Earthly Delights,” a group project featuring items that will be sold by silent auction to benefit an art scholarship fund at Skagit Valley College.

Also worth a look is Insights Gallery’s “Summer Show” of all its gallery artists, which continues through July 31. Artists include Alfred Currier, Anne Schreivogl, John Simon, Larry Heald, Ramona Hammerly, Marty Rogers, James Moore, Earl Jorgensen, LeAnn Adams, Michael Clough, David Best, Dianna Shyne and Michael Moe.
