Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier to arrive in WA next week

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — The Navy says the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk is leaving San Diego and will arrive Tuesday at Bremerton where it will be decommissioned in January.

The 47-year-old ship is the Navy’s last carrier powered by diesel fuel. For the past 10 years it was stationed at Yokosuka, Japan. It arrived in San Diego this summer.

The Navy says the Kitty Hawk, which had a crew of 2,800, will have a crew of about 400 in Bremerton to work on decommissioning.
