A Burlington man has been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a Burlington home invasion in which two residents were held at gunpoint and bound as he and three other men stole a safe.
Angel Ernesto Carrillo-Duenas, 18, remained in the Skagit County Jail on Monday, awaiting a shuttle to prison. He was sentenced last week in Skagit County Superior Court for his role in the April 11 armed robbery. He was 17 at the time of the robbery but was charged as an adult.
All four men involved have been sentenced to prison.
Juan Jose Vaquero, 20, of Burlington will serve 51⁄2 years; Isaac Ryan Ruiz, 22, of Burlington, 41⁄2 years; and Victor Marques-Jimenez, 19, of Mount Vernon, 6 years. The difference in prison sentence is based on criminal histories and additional unrelated charges that were included in resolving the robbery case.
Carrillo-Duenas pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and unlawful imprisonment. The other three pleaded guilty to those two counts and unlawful possession of a firearm. The plea agreements were struck between July and September.
After binding two victims with tape, the foursome stole a safe, taking a small amount of cash and marijuana. A third victim escaped through a window and called 911, according to court documents.
