LC Council to take up sewer rates

LA CONNER — Sewer rates are on the agenda for tonight’s Town Council meeting.

An ordinance up for consideration would change the base sewer rate to $12.95 per month, except for some senior citizens and the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, which has its own service contract. On top of the base rate, residential customers would pay about $3.50 for every 100 cubic feet of water used.

However, Town Administrator John Doyle has urged the council to wait another two or three months for the results of a sewer rate study currently being conducted before changing rates.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Upper Maple Center, 104 Commercial St.
