Kudos to PACCAR

Community Action and I extend warm appreciation to PACCAR Inc. for its recent grant of $50,000 toward completing the construction of our Emergency Family Shelter.

After nearly two years of construction, we are preparing to open the doors to our friends and neighbors in crisis. The expansion of our existing family shelter will allow us to serve nearly twice as many children and their parents with not only safe, stable housing, but case management and education to help ensure future self-sufficiency.

PACCAR Inc. support adds to a growing list of individual, business and foundation supporters, all of whom are instrumental in helping Community Action help our neighbors in need. We greatly appreciate PACCAR’s support and generosity to help us complete this vital project.

Thanks for levy support

On behalf of the Sedro-Woolley Levy Committee, I would like to thank Starbucks of Mount Vernon and Food Pavilion of Sedro-Woolley for their generous donations, which were enjoyed by our tournament participants.

We also would like to thank Riverside Lanes, along with Ruth Anne Simpson and Grace Frazier, for the attention given by them in helping this fundraiser be a big success. Thank you, Bob Dibble, for donating your time for this alumni benefit. And thanks to all who participated; we couldn’t have done it without you.

Dianna Cole, event organizer,

Sedro-Woolley

Thanks, it was a Blast

On behalf of the Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce board of directors, I want to thank everyone who came and took a step back in time for our annual summer kick-off celebration Blast from the Past on Saturday June 7. Through the rain, sun and clouds you enjoyed great food, arts and crafts, contests galore, and over 50 classic cars that lined Metcalf Street.

Thank you to Mayor Anderson, Sedro-Woolley council members and staff for assisting with all the necessary preparations that made our event run so smoothly. We had a large turnout at Hammer Heritage Square for the contests that produced some

very good jump ropers, pizza eaters, pie eaters and hula hoopers.

Thank you to the following businesses for their donations: Pola Kelley, Allstate Insurance; Skagit Surveyors & Engineers; Domino’s Pizza, Subway of Sedro-Woolley; Alfy’s Pizza and Pasta; McDonald’s; Hometown Café; Just Moe’s Steak & Spirits; Hal’s Drive-In; Coconut Kenny’s; Cascades Job Corps; Joy’s Sedro-Woolley Bakery and Café; KBRC 1430; Birchview, A Memory Care Facility; Northwest Tinman and Cascade Fabrics.

Thank you also to Rick Lemley, Tim McCray, Randall Wilson, Eric Thompson, Adrianna McDowell, Patty Smith, Brian Hurst and Jina Williams for making Blast from the Past 2008 spectacular.

David Bricka, executive director,

Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce
