PSE is withholding information

PSE’s Committee for Reliable and Affordable Energy in an advertisement states: “It’s your money, you deserve answers before they spend it. Vote No on Prop 1.”

At the same time, PSE blacked out sections of its $7.4 billion sale documentation so that the public has no answers on how the sale will be financed. As reported by the Skagit Valley Herald on Nov. 20, the state attorney general’s public counsel section chief said in a filing dated Oct. 24 that the blacked out information is a “critical characteristic of the transaction financing.”

PSE failed to disclose to the general public information we deserved to know. Now, we are left holding the bag to finance the sale to a foreign bank. PSE has been less than open from the very first announcement of the pending sale.

I certainly hope that the sale is not approved by the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. I am not optimistic, however, and expect to pay the highest electrical rates in the state.
