BURLINGTON — A 34-year-old Sedro-Woolley man died early this morning after he was shot in the head while driving through Burlington after midnight.

The victim, identified as Walter Chacon-Villanueva, died at a local hospital several hours after the incident, which occurred at 12:18 a.m. on the 700 block of south Alder Street.

Investigators are following leads and are looking into a possible relationship between the victim and the shooter, said Detective Sgt. Scott Butler. Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence, according to a press release.

The shooter’s vehicle was described as a dark-colored SUV.
