ANACORTES — The Anacortes boys’ tennis team swept singles Monday to hand Sedro-Woolley a 5-2 defeat in Northwest Conference action.
Mackenzie Larkin (No. 1 singles), Zach Purcer (No. 2) and Corey Geffe (No. 3) lost a combined three games. Paul Sauer (No. 4) completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Dillon Bundy and Ryan Hayes (No. 2 doubles) picked up the fifth win for the Seahawks (3-6 overall).
“It was a pretty solid performance,” Anacortes coach Jeff Thomas said. “Our singles were pretty dominant. We had some good matches with doubles. They kind of loaded up the doubles, which made for some more competitive matches.”
Eduardo Turner and Brendan McGoffin won the No. 1 doubles match 7-5, 6-2 for Sedro-Woolley (0-9), topping Sean Higgins and Jonah Richards 7-5, 6-2.
Thomas said he was pleased with his sophomore doubles team.
“Sean Higgins and Jonah Richards looked very good,” Thomas said. “They’re improving so much. They keep getting better and better each match. They’re figuring it out, and they’re young.”
Calvin Rutherford and Henry Bletsch had the other Sedro-Woolley win, 6-7 (3) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.

OAK HARBOR — The Wildcats won everything but the No. 1 singles match to pick up the Western Conference North Division victory.
Ryan Evans (No. 2 singles), Jordan Kingma (No. 3) and Josh Evans (No. 4) all cruised to victories, dropping no more than two games in any set.
Paul Jewell and Joel Valles II (No. 1 doubles), Rick Balleros and David Marshall (No. 2) and Max O’Dell and Chris Holbrook (No. 3) all won in straight sets for the Wildcats (4-4).

Mount Vernon Bulldogs 3
LANGLEY — The Bulldogs won Nos. 3 and 4 singles, and No. 3 doubles in the Northwest Conference loss.
Jeremy Boyd took a third-set tie-breaker 7-4 to win the No. 3 singles match while Cameron Addison had a much easier 6-2, 6-0 victoy at No. 4.
Jared Knapp and Jay Tourtillott took three sets to win their No. 3 doubles match 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

BURLINGTON — Will Stewart won the No. 4 singles match for the Tigers 6-4, 6-3. Burlington-Edison’s other victory came at No. 3 doubles, where Nick Bruner and Zach Holzheimer combined on a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory.
